DIVING
Where the local people go to Diving
Welcome to Fuerteventura, the underwater paradise for diving lovers! If you dream of discovering marine worlds full of life and mystery, you are in the right place. Here I present a complete guide to immerse yourself in the exciting adventure of diving in the north of the island:
Emblematic Diving Places:
Isla de Lobos: This small island offers crystal clear waters and vibrant reefs. Explore its spectacular marine life and form part of the Integral Marine Reserve. In the surroundings of this island, which has been a Nature Reserve since 1982, you will be able to discover the true charms of diving in Fuerteventura, since it stands out for its volcanic ledges, and for the great visibility it has.
In this space you can enjoy a variety of marine species such as friendly jacks, seifías, mullets, barracudas, eagle rays, yellow fish and stingrays.
Bajón del Río Beach: This is a beach located in the north of Fuerteventura, in the middle of the strait that reaches the Islote de Lobos, approximately five minutes by boat from the port of Corralejo.
It is a beach with a golden sand bottom and crystal clear waters from 15 to 18 meters deep and can be considered one of the most charming places in Fuerteventura. It has some high walls of volcanic origin that have been eroded and sculpted for centuries by the waves.
This place is one of the most recommended for diving in Fuerteventura and probably one of the most beautiful areas in Europe to practice this activity. You can see a multitude of species such as grouper, black-tailed bream, gold and manta rays. With the right current and tidal conditions it is accessible to any diver, regardless of their level of experience.
Ajui: It is a small town that is located on the west coast of Fuerteventura. Access to this place must be done from the beach, although you can go down to a depth of 15 meters.
To dive in Ajui, you have to take into account the weather conditions, since it is only suitable for expert divers. This is why it is advisable to go in summer, for those who, due to their experience in practicing this activity, want to have the opportunity to experience diving in Fuerteventura at a high level and contemplate the volcanic stone formations and caves of this wonderful enclave. Also, you will be able to see some species such as angelsharks and rays.
Playa del Jablito: This enclave of approximately fifteen meters deep is located in the small fishing village of Jablito. It has shallow waters and is located in the northwest of the island, with an extraordinary wealth of marine species. You can find old, golden, parrot fish, angel sharks, spider crabs, bream, among others.
The bottom of these waters is characterized by having some areas with sand and others with rocky areas. It is an ideal place for diving in Fuerteventura, which can be easily accessed from the beach and is suitable for all levels.

The diving season in Fuerteventura runs from April to November, but the calm of the waters and the optimal visibility make the months of May to September ideal.
