Glass bottom boat excursion in Corralejo

Discovering the marine world of Fuerteventura with its diverse flora and fauna is a true experience and a year-round attraction with Corralejo's glass bottom boats.

These excursion boats have parts of the hull below the waterline that are glazed and made of transparent materials to allow a view of the underwater bottom.

The visitor can look through the glass floor or the ship's portholes at the impressive world of the ocean.

The crystal clear waters of Corralejo offer a great insight into the underwater world - you will be excited by the view that awaits you. A unique opportunity to capture the different marine mammals on camera in photo and video. Come aboard this fantastic ship and make your loved ones filled with very special memories.

There are not many opportunities in life to live this fantastic adventure and your family will thank you for choosing this experience.

Aqua Water Park

This activity is going to become one of the children's favorites, who will have a great time riding all kinds of attractions. The Acua Water Park is the best water park in Fuerteventura. It has attractions for all ages, so you should not rule out a visit if you think your children are too young. Without a doubt, it is a perfect plan for those hot days in Fuerteventura. This way, you will be able to get rid of the heat while having fun with your family.

One of the most famous attractions and most suitable for families with children is Rio Lento. It is a water circuit that is carried out with floats. As information, those children who are less than one meter tall must wear arm warmers and be accompanied by an adult.

In addition to the above, another very fun attraction is the wave pool, which imitates the waves of the sea. This pool has different depths, with a minimum of 20 centimeters and a maximum of 2.50 meters. For the most daring, I recommend attractions such as the Zig Zag, the Castle or the Kamikazes. The second is a set of slides with a height of 14 meters.

In addition, the park has a restaurant where fast food is served, such as hot dogs, hamburgers or sandwiches. There is also an ice cream parlor and a souvenir shop.

Adress: Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen, 41, Corralejo, Fuerteventura.

Timetable: From 10:00 to 17:00
Suggestions: It is not open all year round so we recommend finding out about the hours on their website https://www.acuawaterpark.com

Oasis Wildlife

The Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura is a large theme park that includes a zoo, botanical garden and garden center. More than 3,000 animals, of 250 different species, and a huge number of plants, await visitors. In this impressive space, located in the south of Fuerteventura, in La Lajita (municipality of Pájara), the little ones can enjoy fun parrot shows, feed the funny lemurs, swim with the sea lions and get up close to reptiles and birds of prey. The place is perfect to visit with children, who will be surprised by the African elephants, crocodiles or cheetahs. In the park you will find all kinds of animals typical of the African continent, such as camels, sea lions or hippos.

In addition, you will also learn about the processes carried out to save species in danger of extinction. Part of the entrance money is allocated to the conservation of some species, so with your visit you will be contributing to their rescue.

On the other hand, different educational and recreational activities are also carried out for children. As if that were not enough, the reserve has a domestic animal farm, as well as a botanical garden, which, in fact, is the largest in Europe. Oasis Wild Life has free buses that connect Corralejo with La Lajita, to find out their schedules and routes, access the website https://oasiswildlifefuerteventura.com/

Ecomuseum La Alcogida

Located in the town of Tefia, near Puerto del Rosario, visiting this museum is to delve into the way of life of the Majorero peasants of the 19th century. It is one of the best cultural centers in the Canary Islands. A rehabilitated town of stone houses, whitewashed with lime and gable roofs, where the lifestyle and work of the island's inhabitants hundreds of years ago are recreated. There is no shortage of camels, donkeys, goats and other animals, which makes the children have a great time. It is worth going to see it after visiting the Tindaya Mountain.

Today the houses retain the name of the inhabitants who, until not so long ago, lived their lives within those walls, and some rooms have been converted into workshops from where artisans of palm, openwork or clay, among other things, , show the details of the traditional trade.

Salt Museum

One of the most famous interactive museums in Fuerteventura is the Salt Museum, an ideal museum to visit with children.

The Salt Museum is located in the town of Las Salinas del Carmen. This tries to highlight the island's salt-making tradition, telling curiosities about this product of great historical importance. Outside the museum you can see how the process of obtaining salt works, which has been the same since the 19th century.

Catamaran to Lobos Island

A day sailing on a catamaran around the island of Lobos is a perfect plan regardless of your age. Feeling the sea breeze on your face or hanging your feet overboard and noticing how the water drops splash is priceless. Lobos Island is an islet that was used by pirates in another era and was famous for its population of sea lions. Today it is one of the most common tourist getaways when visiting Fuerteventura and it also has a right wave sought after by surfers from all over. Europe.

This islet is a protected natural area just 2 kilometers from the coastal town of Corralejo and about 8 kilometers from the beaches of southern Lanzarote. By catamaran it takes about three hours to go around the island including stops for swimming and snorkeling.

You just have to jump into the water to swim surrounded by thousands of fish that seem to come to say hello. Seifias, barracudas, horse mackerels and even some hammerhead fish will swim carefree around you. You can also go for a ride on a SUP or kayak, although children have to be accompanied by an adult because if the wind blows it is easy to get away quickly.

Lobos Island

Isla de Lobos receives this name from the sea lions that visited the island years ago.

To go to Lobos Island from Corralejo, you just have to go to the pier, from where daily ferry or water taxi departures are organized. The journey lasts approximately 15 minutes until you reach your destination. During the journey you can see beautiful views of the Corralejo coastline and the beautiful Isla de Lobos.

Although it is a very small island, it is one of the most popular attractions on the island of Fuerteventura. In addition, its small size is ideal for the little ones, since it does not take more than an hour to walk from end to end. However, families with children usually take short trips that cover at most the pier, the beach, the restaurant, and the natural pool.

Due to the ecological wealth it has, Lobos Island is declared a National Park and the waters that surround it are an underwater reserve area. It is also declared a bird protection area.

On the island there is a restaurant, which is run by the only two inhabitants of the place. This has menus made with fresh local fish that they catch every day for their diners.

Isla de Lobos is also one of the best places to live a snorkeling experience in Fuerteventura. Some of the companies that make the journey to the island provide or rent diving goggles and fins.

The transparent waters of Lobos are the ideal place for snorkeling. Bringing glasses and a snorkel is essential to explore and admire the rich marine flora and fauna of the islet. For those without equipment, there are options that include equipment rental along with the ferry ride, providing a complete snorkeling experience.

If you are traveling with children who are not too young, it is also recommended that you climb the La Caldera Volcano, which offers the best views of the entire island, being able to see both Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

Finally, some of the water taxi companies also offer excursions with water activities, such as paddle surfing or kayaking.

Playgrounds in Fuerteventura

In practically every town in Fuerteventura you will find a swing area where children can enjoy the outdoors. Below we leave you the best playgrounds in the North of Fuerteventura:

Villaverde playground

Villaverde has a swing park almost at the entrance of the town in front of the Escafraga restaurant. It can be seen from the road itself. On the left in the direction of La Oliva.

Corralejo playground

The Parque la Tunera in Corralejo is located next to the Civil Guard and in front of the Hotel Playa Park Zensation. In this leisure park you will find a very well designed and maintained skate park, basketball court, soccer field, swing area, barbecue area and outdoor gym. A new playground in very good condition where the little ones, in addition to swings, have a board games area with boards to play the game of goose or ludo.

Lajares playground

In the center of the town of Lajares, you will find this playground with swings and a climbing area for the little ones. On Friday afternoons it is usually quite busy.

Family crafts in Lajares

Participating in craft workshops in Lajares is a wonderful way to involve children in the local culture. These workshops allow families to create their own works of art using clay, offering a hands-on and creative experience. It is a perfect opportunity for children to express their creativity and take home a unique souvenir of their trip.

Guay Park Corralejo

Not far from Fuerteventura's Aqua Park is this outdoor amusement park. The Guay Park is a children's leisure park that has trampolines, a mechanical bull, inflatables, a train for the little ones, a merry-go-round and a snack area with a small stall where you can buy some sweets. Or even eat a slice of pizza.

Best of all, children can ride the attractions as many times as they want. You just have to buy a bracelet that will give you a free pass to all attractions for 30 minutes or 1 hour. Its price starting at 7 euros makes it a cheap option to keep the children entertained.

International Kite Festival

A spectacle of colors and shapes. Every year the International Kite Festival is held in Corralejo (Fuerteventura), in which hundreds of people participate in this fun day with kites, even created by hand. In 2017, the XXX edition of the Festival was held and, like every year, it was organized by the La Oliva City Council and included a great program of activities.

The Festival lasts several days on different beaches in the Corralejo area. You can see sharks, octopuses, flying dogs and cats in Playa de La Concha, in El Cotillo, Playa del Burro... The imagination of the participants is infinite! In addition, the days are full of activities designed for children, such as, for example, kite-making workshops.

The Festival has its origins in 1987, when a group of kite enthusiasts decided to organize a meeting in which only eight people participated. Currently there are hundreds of participants, competing with authentic works of art, and many more are the spectators.

The Festival is celebrated in November, so if you are considering traveling to Fuerteventura during those dates, make sure you coincide with this wonderful show!

Horseback riding excursions

Among the most rewarding experiences that can be had on the island, and that children will surely be excited about, is taking small excursions on horseback. There are horseback riding routes both along the coast and in the interior of the island, and they usually last between 1 and 2 hours. Fuerteventura has several companies that offer these services at very competitive prices. Among them is the Gran Tara Ranch located in El Cotillo.

Hiking through the Calderón Hondo Volcano

The hike to the Calderón Hondo Volcano is an impressive adventure for families. Located in Lajares, this volcano offers an accessible trail that takes visitors to its summit, where panoramic views of the island can be enjoyed. The volcano's crater, 70 meters deep, is an impressive natural spectacle. The short 40 to 45 minute route is ideal for families with children, offering an educational and exciting experience.

This imposing volcano awaits you with its landscape full of adventures and activities for children. If you are passionate about hiking, this volcano gives you the opportunity to enjoy a stunning view of the entire island.

The shortest route for children can last between 40 to 45 minutes, which takes them to contemplate the imposing crater a little more than 65 meters deep. An unparalleled experience. In this post we leave you the complete route to climb the Calderon Hondo volcano with small children.

Hiking

The most active families, who like trekking, are in luck. Fuerteventura has more than 200 kilometers of trails spread throughout the island. Some skirt cliffs, others climb volcanoes or pass by lighthouses... There are very accessible routes, suitable for any age, that last one hour and cover less than 5 kilometers.

Of course, you have to be protected from the sun and with enough water because there are few places to take shelter. One of the most popular tours is on Lobos Island. A path of about 8 kilometers that surrounds the island and can go up to La Caldera, the ancient 127-meter-high volcano that is an indisputable landmark of the landscape. The panoramic view is impressive… you will have Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and the island of Lobos itself at your feet. Another reason that makes a family vacation on this island 100% recommended.

Skater region

If your children are skateboard lovers, you are in luck since the municipality of La Oliva is an area full of good skateparks and bowls. The surfing community is also a lover of skateboarding and the children of this community have been skateboarding since they were very young. That is why skate parks have proliferated in this region.

In Corralejo you will find a very good skatepark in the Parque de la Tunera, with areas for surfskate, street and bowl.

In Lajares you will find the Lajares Bowl, which is super developed with a skate shop inside and a great skater atmosphere. There is also the La Ola bowl, a surf camp that offers the public a super bowl as if it were a wave in the sea, it is super accomplished and very beautiful.

In La Oliva there is a bowl that is very well built and is very fun even for beginners.

For example, you will learn the difference between the flags that are used. For the little ones, there are karts and special equipment. With them, children will also be able to enjoy a safe kart race. Therefore, karting is a great activity for children's parties.

At the Gran Karting Fuerteventura, children from 6 years old and over 1.25 meters tall can practice karting. There are special children's karts that are extremely safe for the little ones. Pirates & Dolphins in Jandía Fuerteventura

Embark on an exciting whale and dolphin search off the coast of the Jandía Natural Park in southern Fuerteventura with this picturesque pirate ship. Board one of the last cargo sailboats of the Spanish navy in the Iberian Peninsula. Raise the sails and sail across the Atlantic with this piece of living history, see dolphins and discover the hidden corners of the island's stunning coastal landscape. Boredom does not exist in the vocabulary of a true pirate: you can expect fun wild swims and exciting encounters with fantastic creatures from the depths of the ocean: flying fish, turtles or dolphins and, with a little luck, you will even be shown a whale. There is always a lot of action on board, in the most typical pirate style. There is no shortage of fun games, good music and tasty food, as well as drinks. The pirate dolphin watching tour is great fun for adventurers young and old in Jandía, Fuerteventura.

Fuerteventura beaches

Of course, you can't visit Fuerteventura and not get lost in its wonderful beaches. These are the main attraction of the island, so I recommend that you experience them to the fullest as many of them as possible. Going to the beach is one of the favorite plans for the little ones, who have a great time making sand castles or splashing in the sea. Plus, it doesn't require much planning, just a few snacks and sun protection.

You can also have a great day if you book one of the kayak tours in Fuerteventura, or a surfing course for the whole family to navigate the waters of the Atlantic.

Among the best beaches in Fuerteventura for families with children, we can highlight the beaches located within the Dunas de Corralejo Natural Park and the beaches of Cotillo.

The dunes of Corralejo

Its beaches are ideal for the family, since they have calm waters. And on windy days, you can practice windsurfing or kitesurfing. Next to the turquoise waters and the fine white sand on the other side is the mini desert in the Dunes of Corralejo, a sight very difficult to forget. In this wonderful place called the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park and surrounded by thousands of dunes are the beaches of Flag Beach, Entubadera, Riu beach, El Moro, El Burro, as well as others that are more difficult to access since You have to walk through the dunes a few minutes from the road, which makes them completely virgin.

Lakes Beach (El Cotillo)
The Lakes in El Cotillo are a succession of natural beaches that are located near the town of El Cotillo, right on the road that goes towards the famous lighthouse. These are very protected beaches, ideal for families, with very fine, white sand. Completely safe, since the reef prevents the formation of waves. The calm waters, the white sand and the richness of marine fauna make this place a perfect environment to put on diving goggles and inspect the seabed. In the summer season they are usually crowded and it is important to know that it does not have services like the previous beaches we have seen, although there are bars and restaurants options very close to them.

Caleta de Fuste beach
We are facing a natural bay completely sheltered from the wind and waves, making it a comfortable and especially safe option for those families with children who want to enjoy the beach with absolute tranquility. It has all kinds of services such as rental of hammocks, umbrellas, showers, restaurants of all kinds and a lot of options to rent equipment and practice different water sports. If in addition to enjoying the sun and the beach you want to do some tourism, next to it is one of the most important places in Caleta de Fuste, the Torre de San Buenaventura or Castillo de Fuste. It is a small circular fortification that in other times served to protect the coast.

Natural Green Water Pools

There are several attractions that the Aguas Verdes Natural Pools hide, but two of them are the funny local squirrels that you see before reaching the puddles and the large number of crabs that populate the rocks of the pools.

The waters in these puddles are very clean and usually maintain a very pleasant temperature. They are protected from the sea, which allows you to enjoy a safe swim, and it is only advisable to wear booties to avoid slipping or injuring your feet on the stones at the bottom.

It is recommended to bring food and drinks, since in Aguas Verdes there are no restaurants or bars where you can buy something.

Kayak adventure

For adventurous families, a kayak excursion from Corralejo to Puertito de Lobos offers a unique experience. This activity not only allows you to explore the islet from a different perspective, but also provides the opportunity to snorkel in its crystal-clear waters. This combination of kayak and snorkel ensures a complete and exciting visit to the island, ideal for those looking for an active adventure in contact with nature.

Surf lessons for the whole family

Fuerteventura and especially the municipality of La Oliva are the perfect place to enjoy a day of surfing, the fine sand beaches and its warm climate offer the best conditions for the whole family to experience a day of adventure and sport. The NOMAD SURF CAMP school offers specific courses for the whole family with instructors specialized in this field. Do not hesitate to visit our discounts section where this school offers a very affordable price for a day of surfing with full equipment, transfers to the beach, certified instructors and an unmatched level of customer satisfaction.

It is not necessary for family members to have never done this sport before since the wave conditions are easy in size and do not require any extraordinary skills to enjoy a day of surfing with your loved ones.

The magical mountain of Tindaya

Tindaya Mountain, also known as the Sacred Mountain of Fuerteventura, is a magical place that you must visit on your visit to the island.

It is located in the Llano de Esquinzo, in the municipality of La Oliva and is part of the Biosphere Reserve. It has a height of 400 meters and has geographical characteristics completely different from the rest of the mountains.

It is not only worth visiting for its colors, shape and views, but also for the history it hides. The Tindaya Mountain has been of great archaeological interest for years, since it houses engravings from the rock era, as well as footprints with centuries of history.

At the time, the natives of the island gave the mountain magical properties, which gave it the name Sacred Mountain. Today, it is declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, as well as a Natural Monument and Point of Geological Interest.

In this place, you can see unique species, such as the hornua, a purple plant typical of the Canary Islands and Morocco. You will also have the possibility of seeing birds such as the Saharan runner or the houbara bustard, as well as shrews or Atlantic lizards.

On your visit to Tindaya Mountain, I recommend that you visit the Bailadero de Las Brujas Cave, a place where rituals were performed centuries ago.

To take this excursion, you will first have to go to the town of La Oliva. Furthermore, if you are going to do it on your own, you will have to request a permit from the Environment Department of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura. In the event that you hire a company, this will be the one that carries out the procedure.

The Ajuy Caves

In the Betancuria Rural Park there is an area declared a Natural Monument: the Ajuy Caves. These caves are located in the municipality of Ajuy and are of great importance at the regional level, since they are the first geological formations in the Canary Islands.

They are made up of a total of 32 hectares and are part of the underwater lava that emerged during the Cretaceous period to give rise to the island.

In fact, their value is so high that they are one of the 150 areas of greatest geological interest in the world. When visiting them, you will feel like a character from a movie about the beginnings of the earth, given their nature.

Traditions Market

The Mercado de las Tradiciones is a craft market and a reference site for the inhabitants of Fuerteventura. At the same time, it is an attraction for tourists interested in gastronomic offers. The market has fresh products that come directly from the crops of local farmers. There you can find fruits and vegetables, artisan jams, cheeses, olive oil and bread, among many other foods. You will also have the chance to see the best crafts and artistic creations in the area.

The market is located in one of the most emblematic buildings of La Oliva, the Casa del Coronel, and opens every Tuesday and Friday, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Currently, it also opens on the first Saturday of each month, at the same time. This is a very important place in the economy of the island of Fuerteventura, since it is a place where producers can sell their products directly. And thanks to this, people who visit the market have the possibility of purchasing top quality products.

Corralejo Dunes

The Corralejo Dunes Natural Park is one of the great protagonists of the island's natural heritage. It is a good idea to do this visit with children because they will find themselves in a habitat that they have not known before, with impressive views and the magnificence of its 2,600 hectares of fine white sand dunes.

The drive to the park is easy and incredibly beautiful, with the sea as a showcase the entire way. Furthermore, in this area there are some of the best beaches in Fuerteventura bathed by turquoise waters. .

It is a completely different place than any you have seen before, a paradise that invites you to peace and rest. In the park you can see different types of birds. Children will love climbing the dunes and sliding down them as if it were a slide.

I also recommend that you go to the ones known as Great Beaches of Corralejo, they are the beaches that are in front of the Riu hotels. Unlike other beaches in the area, the water is usually calmer in this area, making it a safer bathing place for the little ones in the house.

In addition, the Great Beaches have all kinds of services, such as beach bars, parking and public bathrooms. In this way, it is the perfect place to spend a sunny day.

Submarine trip with crystals

One of the most impressive activities you can do in Fuerteventura with children is to take an excursion on the Subcat Morro Jable (1 hour 30 minutes from Corralejo). This is a completely different boat than any you have seen before. The Subcat Morro Jable is one of only 3 catamaran-submarines in the world. Yes, you read it right. This boat combines both modalities to provide an unusual experience. At the beginning of the journey, you will sail across the sea on a catamaran, enjoying the sea breeze in your hair and the incredible views. This makes this part of the activity one of the best boat trips in Fuerteventura.

As you pass, you will see the best beaches on the island and you can even take the odd dip. During this part of the excursion, a guide will explain the curiosities and characteristics of the marine fauna and flora of the area.

Once the catamaran ride has taken place, you and the rest of the passengers will go inside the submarine. This is when the immersion and the most exciting part of the trip will begin. Through the windows of the submarine you will see the different animals that live in the depths of the sea. It is impressive to see them in complete freedom and at such a short distance. Without a doubt, this plan is ideal for all members of the family. Although Morro Jable is a town far from Corralejo since it is 1.5 hours by car, we recommend it if you have decided to visit the Oasis Wild park since it is very close to this fantastic zoo.
