If you are passionate about surfing and you are looking for the perfect place to catch waves, you are in the ideal destination. In the north of Fuerteventura you can find perfect waves and a diversity of spots for all levels.

This guide will take you through the most outstanding beaches in the north of Fuerteventura, providing you with detailed information on each of them and one interactive map with all locations. You will discover the secrets of the best surf spots where the local people go to surf, the ideal conditions for each level, the seabed and the directions of the waves, everything you need to know to make the most of your surfing experience in Fuerteventura. One detail that you should take into account is that to get to most of the surfing beaches you will need to travel by car since they are generally far from urban populations. It is also important to note that all these tips are for experienced surfers. Without experience, do not try it as you can find yourself in dangerous situations, it is a sport that is practiced in the sea and this is not a safe environment. Moro Beach:

Conditions: Consistent and powerful waves.
Wave type and direction: Mainly left.
Seabed: Sand and rocks.
Required level: Suitable for advanced level surfers.
Tips for finding it: Access the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park from the FV-1 road. Once inside the park, follow the signs to Playa del Moro.

Entubadera Beach:
Google maps location here

Conditions: Fast waves and holes.
Wave type and direction: Mainly right.
Seabed: Sand and rocks.
Required level: Suitable for advanced level surfers.
Tips for finding it: Access the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park from the FV-1 road. Once inside the park, follow the signs to Playa de la Entubadera.

Burro Beach:

Conditions: Consistent and powerful waves.
Wave type and direction: Mainly left.
Seabed: Sand and rocks.
Required level: Suitable for advanced level surfers.
Tips to find it: From the town of Corralejo, follow the FV-1 road to the north. After passing through the Dunes of Corralejo, you will find Playa del Burro.

Mythical Lobos island:
Location: In the north of Fuerteventura, on the island of Lobos.


Conditions: Fast and hollow waves.
Wave type and direction: Mainly right.
Seabed: Rocks.
Required level: Suitable for advanced surfers.
Tips to find it: From Corralejo, you can take a water taxi to the island of Lobos. Water taxis are taken from the Corralejo pier and the boats come and go throughout the day. This is an adventure since the boats let you jump into the water right at the peak and they come to look for you when you have agreed, so you only take a board and a suit, the conditions can be harsh so you have to be extremely Caution since in case of an accident you will find yourself without support until a boat appears to take or pick up surfers.

Bristol Beach:
Location: In front of the Bristol area of Corralejo.


Conditions: Consistent and powerful waves.
Wave type and direction: Mainly left.
Seabed: Sand.
Required level: Suitable for advanced level surfers.
Tips to find it: From the town of Corralejo, take the FV-1 road to the north. Continue until you reach Bristol Beach.

Punta Elena Beach:Location: In the north of Fuerteventura, in the town of Corralejo.

 

Conditions: Consistent waves of moderate size.Wave type and direction: Right and left.Seabed: Rocks.Required level: Suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers.Tips to find it: It is located in Corralejo itself, locate Calle Poris and there look for corridor-type access between the houses to get to the beach. There are two corridors, one next to the Sunset Bar and the other next to the Punta Elena restaurant. Once there you will see several peaks depending on the conditions. It is convenient to study the way to enter since there are rocks and stones everywhere, the best thing to do is to follow the other surfers (look at the map below)

Punta Blanca Beach:
Location: In the north of Fuerteventura. 15 minutes from the town of Majanicho.

Conditions: Powerful and challenging waves.
Wave type and direction: Mainly right.
Seabed: Rocks.
Required level: Suitable for advanced surfers.
Tips to find it: Head north to the town of Majanicho and follow the path that is on the left side of the town, always looking at the sea for 15 minutes, you will pass El Hierro Beach and continue along the same path to Punta Blanca. Keep in mind that access can be difficult and it is advisable to have up-to-date information on currents and tides.

El Aguila Beach:
Location: In the north of Fuerteventura, near the town of Majanicho.

Conditions: Consistent and powerful waves.
Wave type and direction: Mainly right.
Seabed: Rocks
Required level: Suitable for advanced level surfers. It is a very lonely beach, be extremely careful if there is no one else in the water.
Tips to find it: Head north to the town of Majanicho and follow the path that is on the left side of the town, always looking at the sea, for 10 minutes, you must pass El Hierro beach and it is before Punta Blanca.

El Hierro beach:
Location: After the town of Majanicho, follow the road to the right of the town for about 5 minutes.

Wave type and direction: Mainly right.
Seabed: Sand and rocks.
Required level: Suitable for advanced level surfers.
Tips to find it: From the town of Corralejo, follow the FV-101 road towards El Cotillo. After passing El Cotillo, you will find El Hierro Beach.

Majanicho Beach:
Location: In the northwest of the island. Right next to the town of Majanicho.

Conditions: Consistent waves and less crowded.
Wave type and direction: Mainly right.
Seabed: Sand and rocks.
Required level: Suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers.
Tips to find it: From the town of Lajares, follow the road to Majanicho. Once you have reached Majanicho, go to its right side, 500 meters to the right of the town.

La Caleta beach:
Location: In the north of Fuerteventura, near Corralejo and before reaching Majanicho.

Conditions: Consistent and moderate waves.
Wave type and direction: Mainly right.
Seabed: Rocks
Required level: Suitable for surfers of all levels. The less experienced beware as there are many rock peaks, you will see many schools when it is soft but before entering ask about the dangers of surfing between rock peaks.
Tips to find it: From Corralejo, head for the dirt road that comes from the fans that can be seen on the beach, just to the left side of the town, follow that road for about 15 minutes, the beach is before reaching Majanicho .

Esquinzo Beach:
Location: Past the town of El Cotillo, past the cliff beaches, calculate about 10 minutes.

Conditions: Consistent waves of moderate size.
Wave type and direction: Mainly right.
Seabed: Sand.
Required level: Suitable for surfers of all levels. But keep in mind that here only at low tide you can surf the lower levels since at high or medium tide the wave is very fast and tubed which is dangerous for beginners.
Tips to find it: Go to the town of El Cotillo and go to the cliff beaches that are on the left side looking towards the sea. You must take an unpaved road and you will pass several cliff-type orography beaches, count at least 6 beaches and then continue for about 10 more minutes along the same path. It is difficult to locate this beach since it is a bit hidden, so we recommend you use the GPS system with the location that we have provided. ( look at the map below)

El Cotillo Beach:
Location: Located in the northwest of the island. Just 5 minutes from El Cotillo.

Conditions: Consistent waves of moderate size.
Wave type and direction: Waves both left and right.
Seabed: Sand.
Required level: Suitable for surfers of all levels. But keep in mind that here only at low tide you can surf the lower levels since at high or medium tide the wave is very fast and tubed which is dangerous for beginners.
Tips to find it: Go to the town of El Cotillo and go to the cliff beaches that are on the left side facing the sea. You must take an unpaved road to access these beaches. Following the path and just 5 minutes away you will see 5 small beaches with the typical orography of cliffs. You must choose which of them has the best conditions, although if you go to the one with the most parked cars you will make sure that you are in the right place. ( look at the map below)
